Our Story

July 16, 2017 — Ben and Una met at a bar in Manhattan (Chelsea) for a drink. "One drink" turned into "let's get dinner," and 6 hours later, they found themselves having tried "one more drink" at 3 more bars in NoLita. From there, the rest is history.

Just a month after they started dating, Ben and Una started traveling together. First it was a weekend trip to the Poconos, then it was a trip to Miami for Art Basel, and then 6 months later they found themselves on a plane to Japan and Singapore. Ask them about their Tokyo blizzard story another time.

Now, they've been to France, Finland, Costa Rica, and up and down the East and West coasts together.

Ben and Una ended their long distance relationship (between the Upper East Side, Manhattan and Cobble Hill, Brooklyn) when they moved into their first apartment together in Downtown Brooklyn (December 2018). Half a year later, Disco entered the picture: a little bouncy bunny full of energy and love. He is still as energetic and lovable as ever.

Ben proposed on December 30, 2019 on a last-minute getaway to Lancaster, Pennsylvania between the holidays. They spent the day at an Amish market and toy train exhibit, and then settled into some wine and cheese (and a nice long bath — Una loves a good bath) at a little remote B&B while reflecting on goals for the coming year (lol 2020). Ben surprised her when he got down on one knee and popped the question.

Now, Ben and Una are exploring remote life, something they are both accustomed to (between touring in bands and for tech conferences), as they navigate this crazy year together.

Venue

The Guggenheim Mansion, formerly called “Villa Carola” was built by Issac Guggenhim in 1916 and named after his wife Carol. The estate was built in the style of the Northern Italian-renaissance, with some elements copied directly from existing Florentine architecture. Its 210 acres face Hempstead Harbor, an inlet of the Long Island Sound, and there is a clear view of the New York skyline on a fair weather day.

The mansion is now a part of the Village Club of Sands Point, a working country club. Its bedrooms have been converted into guestrooms, and what was once an open air courtyard has been enclosed (this is where we'll be dancing!). The original statues, columns, tile, gates, courtyard wear, and much of the interior has been preserved.
